About Us
SCJS was formed and registered as a not for profit Community Interest Company in 2011. Initially specialising in supporting capacity building initiatives with a focus on ‘Rule of Law’, SCJS soon became a trusted delivery partner of both HMG UK and the European Commission.
Working in partnership with national governments, Ministries, public sector authorities and academic institutions, SCJS broadened its operational reach into a range of international capacity building initiatives whilst still retaining a focus on ‘Rule of Law’ matters. Programmes supporting the delivery of public services, provision of regional security and justice projects, fostering international partnerships and equipment supply were examples of some of the range of services SCJS successfully delivers.
SCJS operates with a core team of professionals who bring significant experience from the justice, law enforcement, academic and project management sectors. Supporting SCJS activities is a network of over 600 experts who are deployed as and when required depending upon the nature, circumstances, and requirement of a project.
As a not for profit community interest company working within the public sector, SCJS is required to report annually to the Office of the Regulator of Community Interest Companies, which forms part of the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills. The not for profit status means that all SCJS assets are locked to Victim Support Europe, a non-profit making international association.
In addition to the Office of the Regulator of Community Interest Companies, governance of SCJS activity is permanently reviewed and supervised by an Advisory Board which currently includes representation from the Ministry of Justice, Home Office, Crown Prosecution Service International, Victim Support Europe, Northumbria and Solent Universities, the Verification and Research Training Centre, Public Health England and the Metropolitan Police Service.
SCJS is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under the Data Protection Act 1998. SCJS values its customers and staff and therefore providing a quality service is important. The organisation aims to meet customer expectations and is committed to continuous improvement. SCJS has established a Quality Management System (QMS) to achieve this aim. Its scope is the delivery of capacity building initiatives aimed at strengthening the Rule of Law. Our QMS is certified by the British Standards Institute for its compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015.SCJS is certified in Cyber Essentials Plus and IASME Cyber Assurance which demonstrates that appropriate cyber security measures are in place to protect data held and transmitted by us. This certification enables SCJS to undertake Government contracts that require the handling of certain sensitive and personal information.
SCJS is pleased to support the Armed Forces Covenant and is very proud to receive the Gold Award from the Employer Recognition Scheme run by the Ministry of Defence. The Gold Award is the highest badge of honour which recognises the positive role that employers play in supporting the Armed Forces community
